There is no doubt that the Croatian midfielder has the final word.

In recent days, several media outlets have let it slip that Newcastle are going to make an offer for the Real Madrid legend in the winter transfer window. The reason would be the sanction that Tonali has received, which prevents him from competing for the next 10 months. Luka Modric, who renewed his contract until June 30, 2024, is in one of his most complicated moments. Carlo Ancelotti has decided to have other players in his position such as Camavinga, Valverde, among others.

This season he's having a completely different role than he had before, and that affects his mood. The midfielder still looks ready to have a starting position, but he also understands that the young promises are doing very well and have more physical capacity. At first, the Croatian hinted that leaving in the winter transfer window was a possibility, but in recent days he has been changing his mind.

́ ́The club does not contemplate the sale in winter. Jose Angel Sanchez said it publicly a few days ago, just after Luka Modric did not confirm that he will stay until the end of the season. However, Real Madrid are not going to be an impediment for the midfielder to decide his fate," they wrote in Central Defense.

What did Modric say?

The Real Madrid player has read the rumours and even the agent has received a message confirming Newcastle's interest, but Modric does not want to fail the club of his life: "I leave angry many games when I don't play...But I'm not going to leave in January and leave the club that has given me everything stranded, I won't do it," are the words he conveys to his entourage. If Madrid are not interested, Modric will not force the sale, they added in the aforementioned media
