Manchester United has reportedly identified 28-year-old Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos as David de Gea’s replacement. According to reports, the Red Devils are keen on signing the Greek international, who has a €60 million release clause in his contract. Vlachodimos has been in excellent form for Benfica this season, keeping nine clean sheets in 16 appearances.

With de Gea’s future at Old Trafford up in the air, it appears that United is yet to decide who to get as the new goalie. Odysseas Vlachodimos has been Benfica's goalkeeper since 2018 and is considered to be a reliable goalkeeper in Portugal, helping Benfica win the Portuguese league in 2018.

He is a highly-rated shot-stopper and has excellent distribution, which would make him a good fit for United’s style of play. Vlachodimos is still relatively inexperienced at the top level (has only played 25 games in the Champions League), but he has all the potential to become a top goalkeeper and would be a good long-term investment for United.

What other goalkeepers are on Manchester United's radar?

According to reports, Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos is high on Manchester United’s radar. But he is not the only goalkeeper on the wishlist. Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak is also believed to be a target, although the Slovenian is thought to be out of their price range (100 million euros). Elsewhere, United has also been linked with Everton's Jordan Pickford.
