Lionel Messi made an instant impact after signing with Inter Miami. His numbers are incredible. Since he's the captain, Inter Miami has not lost any match, won their first title and reached another final. He has also scored many goals and provided world class assists to help his new team.

But Messi's impact goes beyond what happens inside of the football pitch. His arrival to the Major League Soccer is without a doubt the biggest announcement in soccer's history in the United States. According to recent reports, MLS has gained a lot of audience and came a little closer to other sports in USA.

Apple TV, the streaming platform that owns the rights to broadcast MLS in the United States and much of the world, has seen the ‘Messi effect’ in all of its greatness. According to The Wall Street Journal, 110.000 users subscribed to the MLS Pass to see his first match at Inter Miami.

What Apple's CEO said about the ‘Messi effect’

Before Lionel Messi signed with Inter Miami, only 124.000 users bought the MLS Pass. After his arrival, the MLS Pass reached the 288.000 subscriptions. Apple's CEO Tim Cook stated: “We are exceeding our expectations in terms of subscribers”.
