The Águilas are coming into this match after a painful defeat last weekend in their visit to Tijuana, and although they have stated that their priority is the league matches, the reality is that they need a convincing performance to lessen the questions that have been raised about the team's collective performance.

The most recent meeting between the Azulcremas and Merengues dates back five and a half years ago. In the 2016 Club World Cup, both teams met in the semifinals of the competition held in Japan. On that occasion, the Iberian team won 2-0 with goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Azulcremas left a pleasant impression at Oracle Park and achieved a draw, which was a draw well received due to the quality of the opponent. Goals from Henry Martín and Álvaro Fidalgo gave the Coapa side a 2-2 draw, while for Los Merengues, Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard got on the scoreboard.

What is next for America

Now, America return to Mexico City to try and change their current form and start preparing for next Sunday's visit to León, where they will seek to right the course in an Apertura 2022 tournament that has not started well for the American cause in which they are looking to climb positions.
