Jurgen Klopp has not been at all happy with Liverpool FC's most recent defeat. The German coach believes that the VAR has significantly affected his team and that is why he did not hesitate to lash out at a press conference after the match. The match against Tottenham was key in the fight for the lead. However, an own goal by Matip ended up ending the Anfield club's chances in the final minutes of the game.

The game was 0-0 and Liverpool were one less due to the red card against Curtis Jones, but Luis Díaz scored the 0-1 with a great goal. The replays seemed to make it clear that it was legal... but the referee annulled it at the request of his lineman, and the VAR did not intervene. The VAR lines were not provided in the replays, so during the match there was no doubt. Shortly afterwards, the PGMOL declared that the VAR had not been involved in the decision and promised a full review of the incident.

In a shared statement they stated the following: "PGMOL recognizes that a significant human error occurred during the first half of Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool. Luis Díaz's goal was disallowed for offside by the referee team on the field. This was a clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention, however, VAR did not intervene.

What did Jurgen Klopp say?

“No one expects decisions on the pitch to be 100% correct. I think we all thought that the arrival of VAR would make things easier. I don't know why people act under so much pressure. Today the goal decision was made very quickly. “It changed the dynamic of the match,” said Jürgen Klopp in the subsequent press conference. Minutes earlier, in the Sky Sports microphones, the German acknowledged that he had "never seen a game like this, with the most unfair circumstances, crazy decisions."
