FC Barcelona began its activity in the transfer market announcing the arrival of Ilkay Gündogan, a high-quality player to reinforce a team that is on the edge with the Financial Fair Play. However, for a few days, various media have pointed to the club's possible interest in bringing Neymar back.
Neymar arrived from Santos to Barcelona to make the leap to the football elite. At the Catalan club, he established himself as one of the best players in the world and remained until 2017. Surprisingly, he accepted an offer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and became the most expensive signing in history, for a historical value that exceeded 220 million euros. Six years later, there's a chance he'll return to where it all began.
However, the reality is that Neymar has one of the highest salaries in PSG and a million-dollar token that Barcelona cannot currently afford. That is why Joan Laporta and Xavi Hernández would be interested in bringing him back, but under certain essential conditions.
Barcelona would only accept Neymar on loan. They are not willing to face a transfer close to 70 million euros, and they could not pay half of their current salary in Paris either. Therefore, they expect PSG to take over the entire salary in the event of a transfer.
Since the end of the season, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of PSG, has made it clear that he did not count on Neymar because of his attitude in recent times. However, the arrival of Luis Enrique to the bench could change the situation and open an opportunity for the Brazilian to return to Barcelona.
Neymar wouldn't mind going back to Barcelona, where he showed some of his best football. During his time at PSG he was affected by irregular performances and injuries, which interrupted his growth on several occasions. Returning to the team where he triumphed could be an excellent opportunity to get him back to his best form.
Neymar's future will be defined in the coming weeks and, for now, he is still a PSG player. It is expected that he will soon start working with the Parisian team, and his continuity will depend on the decisions of Al-Khelaifi and Luis Enrique.
