Lionel Messi’s absence in the latest Inter Miami match has once again sparked conversation. Javier Mascherano, who plays a close role with the team's coaching staff, provided details about the decision made by the coaching staff to not include the Argentine star in the match. According to the former footballer, the main reason behind this absence is precautionary, in order to avoid any risks to Messi’s health.
“The reality is that, in Leo's case, we perhaps considered giving him minutes in the match, but given that the game was played with one player less, and considering the time he has been out, we decided it was better to preserve him. We didn’t want to take any risks,” Mascherano explained after the match. This statement made it clear that the club is not willing to jeopardize their star’s recovery, especially after a long period of being unavailable due to muscular issues.
Messi, who has become the central figure of Inter Miami since his arrival, has been a key player for the team in his first months in MLS. However, his health is the priority for the club, which has decided not to rush his return to the pitch. Mascherano emphasized that, although the temptation to see Messi play is always present, caution is crucial in these situations.
Messi's return to the field is being carefully planned by Inter Miami's medical team. Despite the high expectations from fans and the media, the goal is to ensure Messi is fully recovered before facing the most important matches of the season without physical limitations.
For Mascherano, the aim is for Messi to return when he is 100% fit, as his contribution to the team is invaluable. However, the former Argentina player also understands the pressure generated by having a player of Messi's caliber, especially in a team that expects a lot from him both on and off the field.
Inter Miami fans continue to eagerly await Messi's return, but they also understand that the situation is more complicated than it seems. In the meantime, the team will continue to fight in their league with the hope that the Argentine star will soon be back in his best form.
Inter Miami and their coaching staff are committed to Messi's health and are willing to be patient, making sure that when the player returns, it will be with the guarantee that he is in optimal condition to continue making history in MLS.
