Inter Miami are preparing to face a 2024 that will be much more demanding than the previous year. The success in the Leagues Cup was enough to consider 2023 as a positive year for them, as it was the first title in their history. But now the expectations are much higher and they will have to be prepared to compete in Major League Soccer and the CONCACAF Champions League.

That is why the club's chiefs and coach Gerardo Martino are working on recruiting players to help raise the team's level. So far, six have been added. Four of them were selected in the SuperDraft (midfielders Yannick Bright and Pep Casas, and forwards Ryan Carmichael and Leo Afonso), while the other two are German midfielder Julian Gressel and Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez.

However, several players have left. Kamal Miller was sold to Portland Timbers, while Josef Martinez, Dixon Arroyo, Victor Ulloa and Jake LaCava also left. And now another one will be added: Nicolás Stefanelli. The Argentine midfielder had arrived at Inter Miami in January 2023 and had a good participation in the team during the first half of the year, but then suffered an injury that prevented him from playing for a few months and, with the arrival of Lionel Messi, he had even fewer opportunities.

According to journalist Diego Peralta, Stefanelli has an agreement with Everton of Chile and only details are missing for Inter Miami to accept his departure, on loan for one year and with a purchase option. If this is confirmed, Leo will lose one of the few Argentines in the squad. The others are Franco Negri, Facundo Farias and Tomas Aviles.

More players to arrive

Reports indicate that coach Martino wants at least two more signings in this transfer window. One is a center-back to replace Kamal Miller and the other is a midfielder. Boca Juniors' Argentine players, Marcos Rojo and Cristian Medina, were the first targets, but negotiations failed and so now The Herons are thinking of a plan B.
