Sinche arrived at MLS, Carlos Vela has established as the symbol of Los Angeles Football Club back in 2018, as he was the first signing of the club, and his image has helped to build the presence of LAFC during the five years that they’ve been part of the United States’ top flight.

Seattle Sounders want to take this player from León FC

Before this weekend’s game against Sporting Kansas City, Vela has played a total of 106 games for the Black & Gold, where he’s been able to score 71 goals -including 34 during the 2019 MLS Season, when he broke the record of most goals scored in a single season- and has assisted 31 times.

LAFC has given him the stability needed to finish his growth as a soccer player, and now, at 32, Carlos Vela is playing the best soccer of his life, as he still has the speed to be a constant threat but he’s also mature enough to take the best decisions for his team and not only for him.

But now, with only a few months left on his contract, reports about his departure from LAFC and MLS in general have arisen, especially as he hasn’t started negotiations with Los Angeles FC to renew his contract, meaning that he’s ready to leave and embark in a new adventure.

Javier Aguirre wants him back in Europe

According to reports from ESPN’s sports journalist Mauricio Pedroza, Carlos Vela is not comfortable in LAFC anymore, and is considering returning to Europe, especially to Spain, given that his wife is also unhappy living in the United States.

One of the most interested parties in having him back in La Liga is Javier Aguirre, who recently started coaching RCD Mallorca, as he knows a player of the quality of Vela will instantly improve the roster and the probabilities of leaving the bottom of the table.

But for that to happen, Aguirre will have to avoid relegation and help Los Bermellones remain in La Liga for at least another season. For now, they’re standing 17, just above the relegation zone with six games left on the schedule.

His salary is the biggest obstacle

If Mallorca plays in la Liga for the 2022-23 season, the only thing that could prevent the arrival of Carlos Vela in Mallorca is his salary, as he’s looking to earn at least the same salary that he had with LAFC for the first four years of his contract: $6 million.
