With the pandemic still in force in the world, especially in Latin America, the MLS does not want to give up its league players to play the qualifiers with their national teams.

From the MLS, they explain that they do not want to break with their protocols and protect their league that is in defining moments prior to their playoffs. Many teams that should yield players are fighting to enter the playoff.

South America has shown in recent days that the virus affects delegations that travel across the continent, as is the case of Flamengo, which has more than half of its staff infected. The position of the MLS is that if players travel with their countries, they put their tournament and the entire organization at risk, since they are playing their tournament under strict measures.

If the players travel, when they return they should be quarantined for at least 10 days in the United States and 14 in Canada, which would miss much of the defining phase. The MLS position goes against what FIFA had announced, but they continue to fight for their players to remain in their teams. Could MLS win this fight against FIFA?
