Why didn't Giorgio Chiellini debut with LAFC?

Giorgio Chiellini did not play in LAFC's win over Los Angeles Galaxy in the notorious MLS Traffic Derby. The Italian defender was on the bench and unfortunately he was never used by the coach Steve Cherundolo.

Many fans questioned the decision to leave the Italian defender on the bench, in addition, the match was complicated for LAFC and people were waiting for Chiellini's debut in the last minutes of the game.

Steve Cherundolo mentioned that he didn't require Giorgio Chellini because the other defenders, Jesus Murillo and Sebastien Ibeagha did a great job, plus the Italian still needs to get fit physically.

It looks very likely that LAFC's next match on July 17 against Nashville will be the day that Giorgio Chiellini and Gareth Bale make their debuts and start for Steve Cherundolo's team since they arrived in MLS.
