Sunderland used to be a team that was important in the Premier League but after several bad years it is currently in the Football League One of English football. The documentary that was all the rage on Netflix made the club that was dead reborn and the world of football to be aware of it again. A great find by Netflix.

Sunderland Til I die has two seasons where it shows the day to day of a club that was in ruins. In the middle of the second season Sunderland changed ownership and today it is better financially. It is believed that the success of the first season attracted some buyers and more sponsors to invest in Sunderland.

For the producer of the documentary Leo Pearlman, today the club would not have the projection that it has since Sunderland had disappeared from the world of football. Today he is on the way to return to being the club that he used to be and trying little by little to rise to become part of the Premier League.

Sunderland today is fourth in the Football League one table and is fighting for promotion to the Premiership. The directors of the Netflix documentary are eager to generate more content due to the large audience that was drawn to Sunderland. The economic benefits were for both Sunderland and Netflix
