This is historic for FC Cincinnati because this player has become the first product of the academy. The player is Beckham Sunderland, a 17-year-old goalkeeper. The General Manager said that the decision was made on the ability of the player to adapt to the professional environment.

Sunderland is the son of FC Cincinnati's Larry Sunderland, the director of player development for the club. He has played in nine matches for two young teams of US, the U-17 and U-16 so he seems to be a really good prospect for Cincinnati’s future.

The goalkeeper will be able for the next six matches of the regular season and also for the Playoffs, if Cincinnati can recover after an awful season with 10 defeats in 17 matches. He will join Przemysław Tytoń, Spencer Richey and Bobby Edwards, the main keepers in the team and we will have to wait and see if he becomes an important one.

The coach Jaap Stam has the pressure of taking the team to a Playoff spot and needs at least two wins to get close to Atlanta or Nashville that have the same amount of points. A long way of getting players from the academy can begin with Sunderland and maybe is the boost that this team need to fight for the title.
