Although the 2020 MLS season did not end and regular season games are still being played, there are five teams that, with some virtues, are becoming the surprises of the season. The first of them is Colorado Rapids, which is in sixth position in the Western Conference. The team lost only one game of the last six games and while the team itself is not the surprise, its offense is. To date, he has scored 1.71 goal average while in the 2019 season he had finished with 1.67.

DC United has surprised in MLS 2020 but for the worse. Of the last ten games they have only won one and it is a surprise that they are not worse off due to their poor level of play. DC United's defense and midfield are pretty much the same as last season. Despite this last fact (and a lot of good saves by Bill Hamid), the Rojiblancos are conceding around a quarter of a goal more than in 2019. On the other hand in offense despite adding Edison Flores, Julian Gressel and Federico Higuain, is creating fewer solid opportunities than any team in the league.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are another team that was expected more with their stars and they haven't done much. With a winning coach like Guillermo Barros Schelotto and players of the stature of Cristian Pavon or Javier Hernandez, the team seems sunk in the Western Conference.
