San José Earthquakes weren't finding their pace after the resume of the MLS. Matías Almeyda's saide could not find a way to overcome their rivals. However, things seems to be improving for the Cali's team. They have achieved three victories in their last matches and now they hold a playoff positions.
The first notable change in Almeyda's side is happens in their goalkeeper. James Marcinkowski has replaced Marcelo Vega. The Argentinina goalkeeper has played critical roles in tremendous defeats, for example, against Los Angeles FC (5-1), Seattle Sounders (7-1), Portland Timbers (6-1) and Colorado Rapids (5-0 ). On the last games, already with Marcinkowski as a starter, he only have received 2 goals.
Due to injuries and international requirements, Almeyda had to make several modifications for their game againtst Vancouver Whitecaps. Particularly it was the defensive side the one which suffered most of the changes. However, this setbacks did not affect the Quakes rhythm, since they managed to keep clean sheets in their last game.
With 9 games to go on the regular season, the Quakes actually stands on the seventh position in the Western Conference, which would grant them a spot in the playoffs.
