What Rogelio Funes Mori can bring to the Mexican national team

Argentinian forward Rogelio Funes Mori from Monterrey scored an incredible goal in the 2-1 victory against Puebla. His great shape has revitalize an old discussion that seems to have no end. Should Funes Mori play for the Mexican national team coached by Gerardo Martino?

Although the 29-year-old forward has played for the Argentina, FIFA has changed the rules and enabled the players to play for a second national team. Meanwhile, Funes Mori is doing the paperwork in order to become a Mexican citizen. When he finishes the procedures, he will have everything he needs to play on the Mexican national team. 

Funes Mori said that he has a great affection for Mexico and that he would love to play for the National Team. He added that it would be a very nice opportunity to give back something of what the country has given to him. However, Martino said he will not consider him until he completes the paperwork.

Without a doubt, Funes Mori can score many goals for the Mexican national team. That has been proven since he joined Monterrey in 2015. In total, he has scored 109 goals and gave 29 assists in 212 games. In addition, he won the Copa MX and the Torneo Apertura. He also received the award for best goal in the Liga MX in 2016 and 2019.
