Very bad news for New York City Football Club: via Twitter, the club has confirmed his injury and it is ver probable that he will miss the remainder of the 2020 season. With NYCFC close to secure their spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs, this also means that coach Ronny Deila will have to improvise in the hardest time of the season.

James Sands got injured during the week, but it wasn't until today that the club reveal it. In fact, NYCFC traveled to Florida, where is facing Orlando City, without the center midfielder, but hasn't pointed out until the official Twitter account of the club announced the starting XI.

In the twit, NYCFC point out that Sands may loss the rest of the season. Minutes later, this was confirmed unofficially by league sources. Is a tremendous news for NYCFC. Sands is one it's more important and regular players. This season, he has started 16 out of 17 games.  Last week, Matt Doyle selected him the 4th best Under-22 player in the MLS.

In the first game after Sands injury Deila has placed captain Alex Ring back as defensive midfielder together with Keaton Parks. Also, Thorarinsson was selected to play as left-back, which allowed Ronald Matarrita to play as left winger. A strange decision considering young prospect Nicolás Acevedo could have taken Ring's spot on the offense. Also, Maxi Moralez will be back soon but it is not clear if he will fill Alex Ring's spot or send Gary Mackay-Steven back to the bench.
