Hugo Sánchez is one of the best pure strikers in the entire history of LaLiga and also a pure legend for Real Madrid and Mexican soccer. He will always be remembered for his acrobatic and Chilean shots. His best season in terms of his goalscoring side were the 38 goals he achieved in the 1989-90 season, matching the mark of Telmo Zarra, Athletic Club's legendary striker.

All the goals of the Aztec materialized at the first touch, something that no other player has been able to achieve. A sidereal record that has just turned 30 years old.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez have managed to surpass those 38 goals from Hugo Sánchez in the same season in LaLiga, but the incredible mark of the 'Manito' of scoring them with a single touch has not yet been beaten and it seems unrepeatable. By age and potential, Erling Haaland, who is on the merengue agenda as a future replacement for Karim Benzema, is one of those who could reach it.

The 19-year-old Norwegian from Borussia Dortmund, a fashionable striker in Europe, has scored 10 goals in 9 Bundesliga games and of those ten goals, eight have come from a single touch, one of his characteristics when he steps into the area.

Hugo Sánchez played 12 seasons in LaLiga with Atlético de Madrid, Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano and in five of them he was the top scorer in the competition (1984-85, 85-86, 86-87, 87-88 and 89-90 ). He is the only Mexican player who has managed to win the 'Pichichi' trophy in the history of Spanish LaLiga.
