Lionel Messi has confirmed that he will be leaving Barcelona this season. In a tearful press conference earlier today, the Argentine revealed that he wasn't ready to leave Barcelona but he has no choice but to leave after the club could not afford his new contract. Messi also revealed today that he is in talks with Paris Saint-Germain to move to the club this summer.

However, Barcelona is reportedly set to drag PSG to court for their efforts to sign the 6-time Ballon d'Or winner. The Spanish side has filed a complaint at the Paris Court of Appeals to block the transfer of Messi to the club. Barcelona is arguing that the French side will be in breach of the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules if they sign Lionel Messi.

PSG are rumoured to be offering Lionel Messi a huge €40m deal for a 2-year contract with the option to extend by 1 year. This would be approximately €385,000 in weekly wages. Messi would also be entitled to a sign-on fee due to moving to the French club as a free agent.

PSG have already made massive transfer moves this season after they splashed a combined £76m on bringing in Achraf Hakimi and Danilo Pereira from Inter Milan and FC Porto respectively. They have also signed Gini Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos and Gigi Donnarumma on free transfers from Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan respectively.
