LA Galaxy and SJ Earthquakes were fined by the MLS disciplinary committee for violating the massive confrontation in last weekend's game. At LA Galaxy they drew attention to forwards Chicharito Hernandez and Cristian Pavon, while at SJ Earthquakes to Chris Wondolowski.
As it was the first time they broke this rule, the teams received a wake-up call from the MLS and a financial fine that the amount is not known at the moment. Both LA Galaxy and SJ Earthquakes will have to be very careful for the remainder of the tournament since if they are sanctioned again they could receive a fine much worse than a wake-up call.
In the 59th minute of the game, Chicharito Hernandez, Pavon and Wondolowski started an altercation, causing the other players to get into the discussion. For that very reason, the MLS sanctioned them for inciting mass confrontation. The MLS with its rules tries to avoid all kinds of aggressions between rival players.
In the same statement, the MLS court sanctioned Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Janio Bikel as after receiving a red card against Seattle Sounder came out angry in an untimely manner. The MLS has tightened its sanctions and the teams and players must be very careful not to do anything against the rules so as not to suffer sanctions since the MLS reaches the definition moment.
