The best paid players in Major Soccer League
MLS salaries continue to grow, with the arrival of more international stars every year.
Although still far from being among the elite, MLS is one of the highest paid leagues in the Americas. The likes of Jozy Altidore, Chicharito Hernández, Xherdan Shaqiri and Gonzalo Higuaín, as well as Lorenzo Insigne and Mexico's Héctor Herrera in the summer, decided to join knowing the salaries and quality of life offered in the US.
MLS has decided to stabilize a greater number of teams, betting that each team will have up to three franchise players who can charge the highest salaries in the team. It will be up to each entity to decide how to manage it and whether to bet on an established player or a promising youngster who can make the jump to Europe.

5. Federico Bernardeschi
The Italian of Toronto FC earns 5.7 million dollars a year.
4. Gonzalo Higuaín
The Argentine Gonzalo Higuaín of Inter Miami has a salary of 5.8 million dollars a year.
3. Javier Hernández
Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez is the highest paid Mexican in MLS earning 6 million dollars a year with LA Galaxy.
2. Xherdan Shaqiri
The Swiss ex-Liverpool player plays for Chicago Fire and until recently was the highest paid player in MLS with 8.2 million dollars a year.
1. Lorenzo Insigne
The newest addition to this list. The Italian former Napoli player broke the MLS market, Toronto FC granted him an annual salary of 11.5 million dollars, something unprecedented in MLS.
