The Olympic Games are always an extraordinary event to watch, no matter what your sport is. If you like athletics, basketball, soccer, swimming, field hockey or any other activity, you will for sure find lots of entertaining on your TV. After the serious health situation around the world the 2020 edition was moved back two 2021. Soccer will welcome many stars.

Before we start, we must be clear in an extremely strict point. The competition is not included in the FIFA calendar and therefore the clubs are not forced to release the players they might have called up by their nations. If you watch closely you will see that the national teams do not wear the soccer Federation badges and instead, they carry their Olympic Committees emblem.

Turning just 23 years old in this year, Kylian Mbappé could be called up for the French national team who qualified and will represent Europe alongside Germany, Romania and Spain. This lost nation has the dream of bringing in Sergio Ramos as one of the overaged players. All the squad must be formed by at least 15 of their 18 players by under-23-year-olds. Those who were born in 1997 were the top of age for the 2020 edition and will be still considered ‘Under 23’, despite turning 24 years old in 2021.

Argentina has won the reinstated Pre-Olympic tournament in South America and have many stars on the preliminary list. The biggest name is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez. Another overaged player could be Mohamed Salah, who could even be Egyptian delegation’s flagbearer in the opening ceremony.
