Raphael Varane’s deal to Manchester United is nearing completion as the French star prepares to leave Real Madrid. After 10 years at the Santiago Bernabeu, the former Lorient defender is set to take on a new challenge at Old Trafford.

United are looking to acquire the World Cup winner and 4-time Champions League winner for Varane for about £40m. Varane is said to have agreed personal terms with Solskjaer’s side and he is not expected to move on small money. United will try to offer him everything he wants as he comes with a lot of pedigree.
The 28-year is on a salary of £197,000 per week at the Santiago Bernabeu currently. This comes to an annual salary of about £9.5m without bonuses. In moving to Old Trafford, Varane is expected to earn substantially more. Rumours are that the Manchester United hierarchy has offered him about £250,000 per week to turn out in the Reds colours.
This will automatically make him the joint second-highest earner at Old Trafford. David de Gea is the highest-earner at Manchester United with £375,000 weekly, an annual salary of £19.5m. Anthony Martial is the second-highest earner on the same £250,000. Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani is the third-highest earner on £210,000 weekly.
