Ricardo Pepi is getting closer to accomplishing his dream. The Dallas FC forward will leave the Major League Soccer to play in a European club. According to Fabrizio Romano, Pepi is in talks to join German soccer.

Although his agent was in talks with different teams such as Wolves or Real Madrid, finally the Bundesliga would be his destination. Manuel Veth reported that Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich have been in close contact in order to complete the transaction.

Wolfsburg, the team that would be bidding the hardest for Ricardo Pepi

Wolfsburg is the closest to signing the Dallas FC forward and no other team has been reported to be bidding as hard or harder than them. Pepi is not worried about leaving in January and risking his spot in the national team for Qatar 2022.

Previously, the striker has said he wanted to select a club that would give him minutes, as his goal is to play in the Qatar 2022 World Cup. So it seems that Germany would be the ideal place to have game minutes.

The youngster's aim will be - if he chooses the German club - to break the curse of the youngsters there and make an immediate impact in order to make a bigger leap than the one he has made as a Dallas FC player.

According to Transfermarkt, the 18-year-old is worth 8 million euros.

Bundesliga: A-league to improve before taking the big step

The Bundesliga has become an ideal competition for young players to develop themselves and improve their football. Players such as Jadon Sancho, Haaland, or Musiala that are considered as promises receive the game time they need to improve.

U.S. players like Bundesliga

Many U.S. national team members play in the Bundesliga like Gio Reyna, Tyler Adams, or John Brooks. The latter plays for Wolfsburg. If Pepi decides to join the German club, they will be teammates. Also, other players that performed in the German league were Christian Pulisic and Josh Sargent who now play in the Premier League.

Is Wolfsburg a good choice for Ricardo Pepi?

Wolfsburg is currently in 13th place in the Bundesliga standings after losing its last 5 matches. In the Champions League, the club was eliminated ending in last place in the group stage, not even securing qualification for the Europa League.

Currently, Wolfsburg have three strikers on their roster, but the most important of them has just been injured. Lukas Nmecha suffered an ankle injury that looks set to keep him out for a long period, leaving Florian Kohfeldt, Wolfsburg coach, with experienced Wout Weghorst and Daniel Ginczek.

Even though Wolfsburg is not living its best moment in the pitch, Ricardo Pepi´s chances to earn a spot on the starting lineup does not look impossible due to the internal crisis the German club have.

For sure, Florian Kohfeldt is trying to reverse the situation, and bringing new players that want to compete and win is better for the team, so, Ricardo Pepi is no exception, and probably the idea to move to Wolfsburg could fit the U.S. soccer player in a very good way.
