Nicolás Lodeiro's the most important piece of the Seattle Soundersin Major League Soccer (MLS). However, things will start on the left foot for the player, as he was injured before starting the 2021 campaign officially.

It hasn't yet been specified, but the Uruguayan could miss the next 3 or 4 weeks, leaving the Western Conference champions in a very bad position for their starting schedule during the month of April, although his coach, Brian Schmetzer, appears to be more optimistic about it.

Lodeiro was injured during a Washington team training session with Jimmy Mendranda, making things difficult for both of them ahead of the 2021 opening match against Minnesota United on April 16.

"Nico and Jimmy have taken some hits. We are working on them, they are from day to day. We will see if one or both can make it to tomorrow's game (preseason) and, if not, we will restart it for next week and, again, we will try get them ready for Minnesota", said Schmetzer.

"I would prefer not to elaborate, not that it's critical, but it's still preseason and I want to keep things a little closer to my chest now although, obviously, Nico's a big part of our team", he concluded.
