The top-scorer Mikael Uhrer has negotiated his personal terms with Philadelphia Union, Brøndby states on its website. The move is expected to be completed in the coming week, it reads.

According to B.T. and Ekstra Bladet Uhre’s new club is American Philadelphia Union. He just needs a medical before he is ready to play in the USA, writes B.T.

Uhre is the top scorer in the Superliga with 11 goals in the autumn matches. Last season he finished top of the list with his 19 goals in the Superliga and was a big part of Brøndby's championship season.

While the transfer fee isn’t known yet, Uhre is likely to be a Designated Player, the Union’s third along with new striker Julián Carranza and star midfielder Jamiro Monteiro. Carranza is officially classified as a Young Designated Player, which allows him to carry a smaller cap hit.

Mikael Uhre will be Kacper Przybylko’s replacement after the Polish was traded to Chicago Fire.

The 27-year-old striker joined the club in 2018 from Sønderjyske and has since played 123 games, scoring 48 goals. Last November Mikael Uhre made his debut for the Danish national team.

Saturday Brøndby played a test match before the spring season against Lyngby. Mikael Uhre was not part of the squad. His contract with Brøndby is due to expire on 31 December this year.

When the autumn season ended for Brøndby on 28 November last year, Brøndby head coach Niels Frederiksen was asked about the future of the top scorer.

"I hope that he will stay the rest of the season, but it is not something I control", said Niels Frederiksen.

However, he had also noted that Uhre himself had voiced ambitions for a club move, which the club should respect.

"If he has to be sold, that's what he has to do and we'll sort it out. We have a player who has done well and who has the courage to try something else if the right offer comes along. We need to look at that too. We should not just hold on to players", Frederiksen said back in November.

Mikael Uhre played youth football in Sønderjyske but also had a stint in Skive before returning to Sønderjylland before the move to Brøndby.

A survey of reports across Europe shows that the Union beat teams including Norwich City of the English Premier League and Saint-Étienne of France’s Ligue 1 to Uhre’s signature.
