With the opportunity of its 25th anniversary, MLS published the list of the 25 best players who have ever played at the league, called The 25 Greatest. The most remarkable are Landon Donovan and David Beckham, among many stars from ’00 decade that have played for USMNT or were foreigners with great performances.

With only 25 to choose, it is logical someone good can be left out, but the sensation is that those who did not make the list had more merit than some players who actually are in The 25 Greatest. And that made place to strong controversy about the absences, particularly about two of them.

It is looked with skepticism that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thierry Henry are not part of the greatest ever of MLS. Both strikers revolutionized world soccer, but MLS as well. So the absences of these players who performed together at FC Barcelona in 2009 makes little to no sense.

Zlatan had been the highest paid player in the history of MLS and scored the unbelievable number of 53 goals in 58 matches for Los Angeles Galaxy, where he arrived before turning 37. Henry played four years for New York Red Bulls and found the net 52 times in 135 games.
