In the last decade, MLS have been the league where many world stars went to spend the last years of their careers: Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo, Steven Gerrard, Alessandro Nesta and more had a taste of American and Canadian soccer after touching a ball for the last time. Here go five players who might very likely follow their steps in 2021.

Mesut Ozil: He has been out of Arsenal first team for months. He earns the most at the same time he is completely written off the team. His 350,000 pounds per week make him wanted by nobody in Europe, but he knows he would be very welcome in MLS.

Sergio Ramos: This Real Madrid legend is shooting his last shots at top soccer. He is 34 years old and for now his body is responding well, but soon it will ask him for less matches a year. In the past, Ramos expressed his desire of playing in MLS, and his friendship with David Beckham would be a good bargaining tool.

Luka Modric: Another case like Ramos. The difference is that Modric is a friend of Robbie Keane, a legend for Los Angeles Galaxy, and a playmaker like him would suit perfectly for Chicharito Hernández, his former teammate at Real Madrid.

Jerome Boateng: this center back has won literally everything with Bayern Munich and the German national team, but he is not a starter anymore at his club and will not be called again to represent his country. He wants to be a protagonist again and plenty of MLS teams are able to fulfill his desires.

Edinson Cavani: the Uruguayan signed for Manchester United as a back up for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, but the club is not counting on him long term. Also, the team is not having good results, so someone with his ambition will be thinking about moving somewhere else, somewhere he can get a good shot at silverware.

What teams would be the most likely to sign them?

It depends. As stated before, Inter Miami takes the lead for Sergio Ramos, while the David Beckham's club will be competing against Los Angeles Galaxy for the signing of Luka Modric. The more likely candidate for Mesut Ozil is D.C. United, a club that wants to have another world class player again.

For Jerome Boateng, the team is Seattle Sounders. After losing the MLS final against Columbus Crew, it was clear they need an upgrade in the back line. And lastly, New York City FC appears as an option for Cavani. He would have to betray his Manchester United for the City Financial Group, but it would be useful to promote the team the group has in Uruguay.
