New England Revolution acquired midfielder Sebastian Lletget, who leaves the LA Galaxy for his new destination.

The Galaxians also made a brilliant financial move as by sending Lletget to the Revs, they received $1.3 million in general assignment money for the next two seasons.

The latter is only if the player reaches certain performance goals.

Thus, the Boston club will pay GAM $500 thousand to the Los Angeles club and it will be divided as follows:

$300 thousand in GAM in 2022 and $200 thousand in GAM in 2023.

In Sebastian Lletget, we have acquired a midfielder who has experienced success at both the MLS and international levels,” Revolution sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena said in a release.

“He is a talented player who is a dependable box-to-box player, can score goals, and is an excellent team player. Sebastian is a great addition to our team.”

Lletget comes to the Revs to give them a boost with his experience.

USMNT midfielder arrives at New England Revolution to strengthen the team's central midfield and lend their expertise to the team.

The player spent seven seasons with the LA Galaxy and in that span scored 23 goals and provided 27 assists in more than 158 appearances on the field.

The 29-year-old also has experience in European soccer, having played for West Ham United in the Premier League.

And his numbers with the Stars and Stripes are just as impressive as they were in Los Angeles.

The USMNT player has eight goals and three assists through 33 appearances with the team.

Alongside Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner, he’s been a mainstay in pursuit of a Qatar 2022 World Cup spot.

“Sebastian has grown as a player and an ambassador for our organization during his seven seasons with the club,” LA head coach Greg Vanney said. “We’d like to thank Sebastian for everything he has given to the LA Galaxy and wish him the best in New England.”

Why does the Revolution need Lletget?

Supporter's Shield winners in 2021 are in a race against time not only for the 2022 tournament but also to face their commitments in the Concachampions 2022

In that tournament the club will have to face old CONCACAF acquaintances, looking to repeat the feat of the LA Galaxy, which to date has been the only MLS team to win the trophy.

The Revs are also on target to reach the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.

And above all, they are looking to fill the huge void left by the departure of their star player, Taejon Buchanan, who left for European soccer to try his luck

The player will be in Belgium, in the Brugge club, for a deal of seven million dollars.

“I am extremely excited for this next chapter. I’m thrilled to be heading to such a top team and to be reunited with Bruce Arena, who has proven time and again that he is an elite coach,” Lletget said.

“I look forward to playing alongside so many top players and I can’t wait to contribute and help bring silverware to this club”.
