After negotiations went back and forth, it was confirmed that for the 2022 MLS season Lorenzo Insigne will be part of Toronto FC, a team that today made his contract official through its social networks

The player will arrive from Napoli in June 2022 after his contract with the team has expired, so he will arrive as a free agent.

The presentation of Lorenzo Insigne drove Toronto FC fans crazy

Since its first tweet of the day, the team dedicated itself to showing off its new member on its Twitter account.

The first tweet was to confirm that Insigne will indeed join the Canadian club as of June 1.

In the second tweet of the day, they introduced the player by saying the team's popular slogan: All for one! And it was in this tweet that responses were seen from Napoli fans, who let the player know how much they will miss him.

And in the next tweet, the signing of the pre-contract that will see Insigne play the next four seasons for the MLS club was shown.

The Italian striker will have a salary estimated at 11.5 million euros per season (not including bonus), according to the Italian press.

Insigne's arrival at Toronto FC, a historic event for MLS

This signing signifies a historic event for Major League Soccer as it is the first time that a player of full potential arrives on a Major League Soccer team

Although in the past players such as David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic had already played in the United States' top league, both of them and other players arrived in a sort of "retirement plan"

Insigne, on the other hand, arrives as a Euro 2020 champion, where he and the Italian national team won the tournament beating several of the most difficult national teams on the planet.

In addition, the player comes from Napoli, a team in which he has been a key player in all his active seasons

"This is a historic and exciting day for our club," said Toronto FC President Bill Manning after announcing the signing of Lorenzo Insigne.

Manning agregó: "Lorenzo is a world-class attacking player in the prime of his career. He was a European champion with Italy and has performed on the biggest stages during his career with Napoli. Lorenzo has the talent to change games. He plays with joy and passion, and our fans and supporters are going to love seeing him as a member of our team."

Major League Soccer's newest megastar signed a pre-contract to join the club on a four-year deal beginning July 1, 2022.

He will join the squad as a Designated Player pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
