Luis Suárez, once retired, will bet everything on continuing the construction of his sports complex and the founding of his own football club, always under the SAD model.

In the midst of the controversy raised in our country about the “free rein” for Sports Joint Stock Companies (SAD), endorsed by the Decree of Necessity and Urgency 70/2023 of Javier Milei, Uruguay is presented as a country where this model is legalized and in operation since 2001. However, Uruguayan football was recently surprised when Luis Suárez announced his desire to found a club, governed under this sporting model, to soon compete in the Uruguayan elite.

The forward, aware of his advanced age within the discipline, projected what his life would be like after hanging up his boots. The 36-year-old “Pistolero” knows that he doesn't have much rope left, so little by little he begins to gear his personal goals after retirement. Beyond the creation of a sports institution, Suárez intends to move forward with the construction of the “LS Sports City.”

Without detaching himself from the world of football, the scorer wants to continue linked to the sport and take advantage of his enormous legacy in the discipline. Today, the one born in Salto, Uruguay, will take his first steps in the United States Major League Soccer during the 2024 season.

In this way, he will join Inter Miami, where he will reunite with Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, former teammates in Barcelona. It is worth mentioning that Suárez comes from playing for Gremio during 2023. There, with 26 goals and 17 assists, the “Pistolero” forged a strong bond and helped the “gaucho” institution compete in the next Copa Libertadores. The Brazilian club achieved promotion at the end of 2022 and the Uruguayan was its master card for its return to the elite.

Suárez and a large-scale initiative

Although the LS sports complex megaproject began in 2018, it had its great momentum and notoriety in 2022 from various incorporations. Thus, the place already has an Olympic pool, a gym and a space for different disciplines and activities. In football terms, the land will have 80 thousand square meters, which will include three playing fields for children's and youth football. It will also have three professional-level fields and a mini-stadium with capacity for 1,500 spectators.
