The MLS ir preparing for the start of the season, and the franchises are tuned to enter the competition. However, not everything is positive for Inter Miami, the team that owns, none other than David Beckham. The league has reported that it has opened investigations into suspicions of fraud in the signing of Blaise Matuidi, last year, with respect to the salary caps established by the American regulations.

"Major League Soccer (MLS) has initiated a formal review on the signing of Inter Miami midfielder Blaise Matuidi, specifically investigating whether the player's signing complied with Major League Soccer's salary budget and roster regulations," says the statement issued by the North American league.

According to the MLS laws, each of the teams has the right to hire up to 3 players under the title of ‘Franchise Player’. That is, that their salaries do not affect the salary cap of the clubs in question. This regulation aims to attract world soccer stars, who can be seduced by high salaries. In the specific case of Inter Miami, they had these 3 seats occupied at the time of Matuidi's signing in August 2020. The Franchise Players of David Beckham's team are Gonzalo Higuaín, Matías Pellegrini and Rodolfo Pizarro. Therefore, the signing of the former Juventus player was included in the regulation of salary limits.

Inter Miami signed Blaise Matuidi on August 13 of last year, after he ended his contract with the Italian Juventus. The franchise assured from the beginning that the signing had taken place "through the use of specific award funds". However, in the MLS it is suspected that the footballer received an extra amount of money not declared with his signature, so there are busy days until the truth is known, in a team in formation that wants the least problems.

From world champion in Russia 2018, to the United States league

Blaise Matuidi, of 33 years, was the first big signing for Beckham's team, who told the news in the conference of last week, and I make it clear that they aspire to attract other world-class figures to Miami. With an extraordinary career in Europe, and being an emblem of a Juventus that was always among the continent's elite, the player decorated his career by lifting the World Cup with France in the last World Cup. Today, Matuidi has been at Inter Miami for more than half a year. He arrived in the summer of 2020 after terminating his contract in Turin. After 16 games of which he started in 15 and a goal, the MLS could sanction him and his club.
