Luis Suárez has been during the last decade the most emblematic Uruguayan player. The attacker showed an incredible level in FC Barcelona, turning himself into one of the top-scorers in the club’s history, and also with his national team, leading them to important participation in World Cups.

But, at his 33 years, it seems that Suárez era has ended. Even though he still is having a good moment at Atlético de Madrid and will continue playing for Uruguay national team, these are his last years at soccer. There are many candidates to succeed him, and two will be facing each other soon.

At LAFC we can that a look at Diego Rossi, striker aged 22 who was formed at Peñarol and arrived to the MLS side on January 2018 for $3 million. At Cruz Azul we can see Jonathan Rodriguez, aged 27 and playing in Liga MX since July 2016 (first for Santos Laguna, then for Cruz Azul).

Both strikers, who lead the goal stats at MLS and tournament Guard1anes will be facing each other to prove who is the best Uruguayan striker of the continent, when LAFC clashes Cruz Azul for the quarter-finals of the Concachampions. After the COVID-19 pandemic they will play just a game on the U.S. with a thorough protocol.
