All footballers fear retirement and knowing that their life is going to be far from the fields. Not knowing what to do after being a professional soccer player is difficult for many of them, but this was not the case for this player who went through MLS, Liga MX and Chilean soccer as he decided to stop the luxuries of being footballer to become a priest.

Once he graduated from university, the Chilean footballer convinced him to go to Chile to play and managed to sign his first contract as a professional. Hence, he began his life as a professional player, then went through Liga MX to finally finish in MLS. While he could have played soccer for many more years, a letter from a Catholic Diocese changed his life forever.

Chase Michael Hilgenbrinck decided that his life should continue serving God and that is why he stopped being a professional footballer to become a priest. From making a good thousand dollars, Hilgenbrinck decided that was not the important thing and turned his life 180 degrees. Today he makes a living offering Masses in Illinois.

This year, Hilgenbrinck achieved what in soccer we would call a great transfer as he became the new vocation director for the Catholic Diocese of Peoria in Illinois. It is surprising how the willingness of a soccer player to do what he wanted outweighed the possibility of having won a large amount of money. It is to applaud from pi the dedication and courage of Hilgenbrinck
