Former Egypt coach, Mohsen Saleh has launched a brazen attack on outgoing Barcelona star, Lionel Messi. The coach has branded Messi as 'greedy and a hypocrite' while accusing him of 'crying crocodile tears' during an emotional farewell press conference at the Camp Nou on Sunday. The coach insinuated that Messi was self-centred while at Barcelona and he could have sacrificed more to stay at the club.

Barcelona, on Thursday, announced that the record 6-time Ballon d'Or winner would not be staying on at the La Liga giants. The club cited 'financial and structural obstacles' as the reason for Messi's exit. It is believed that La Liga's wage restrictions are the major reason Barcelona could not tie up the forward to a new deal. This is despite the club expecting up to £230m as their share from a recent deal with CVC Capital Partners.

Messi subsequently held a press conference at the Camp Nou on Sunday to confirm that he'll be leaving indeed. He broke down in tears during the press conference. While he also revealed that he is in talks with the French side, Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine captain is expected to complete a monumental transfer to PSG soon. He will also earn €40m during an initial 2-year contract, with the possibility to extend for 1 more year.

Saleh, who has coached Egypt & Libya, said that Messi could have stayed by sacrificing part of his salary. He also said the Barcelona talisman was crying crocodile tears since he doesn't feel sad in any way. Lionel Messi was on a €1m a week contract at Barcelona and had reportedly agreed to take a 50% pay cut to continue playing at the club.
