Adu arrived from Ghana to the United States with only eight, after his mother could get a green card to stay in the country. His career was growing fast and DC United put an eye on him. Between 2004 and 2006 Adu played 87 games and scored eleven goals but he was not hundred percent comfortable with his position on the pitch and his coach.

Later he was transferred to Real Salt Lake City but his performance was still decreasing. Throughout the years, he has played in many clubs, some big ones like Benfica and Monaco, among many others. His last club was Las Vegas Lights from USL Championship and there he was an atraction to the fans only when he signed: on the pitch his level was terrify.

Before he signed for Las Vegas Lights, Adu had to incurred into the sales world: he started selling vacuum cleaners on facebook. "This is my last chance", Adu said when he was contacted by Las Vegas. Nowadays, according to Transfermrkt he is a free agent.
