Atlanta United forward Erick “Cubo” Torres suffered a sprained knee and will miss “most” of the rest of the 2020 MLS season, club vice president and manager Carlos Bocanegra announced during a conference call. This only increases the bad moment that Atlanta United is experiencing, which has already gone six games without winning and three losses in a row.

Torres, signed on July 31, came on board in hopes of powering a weakened Atlanta attack in the absence of the injured Josef Martinez. After stops at Chivas USA and Houston Dynamo, he was loaned out to Chivas and Cruz Azul before finally signing for UNAM and then being sold to Xolos in 2018.

Despite the injury, and with the addition of Marcelino Moreno as a Designated Player, Atlanta is not looking to acquire anyone else at this time, according to Bocanegra. That opens the door for Adam Jahn to continue to see significant time as a forward despite just 1 goal and 1 assist in 11 games this year.
