Juventus is about to complete the signing of Brazilian youngster Kaio Jorge from Santos in a deal worth an initial €3m and up to €1m in bonuses. Kaio will move to the Allianz Stadium after a successful spell with Santos where he scored 17 goals in 84 senior appearances.

The 19-year-old striker with team up with one of the best players in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo. With Ronaldo known to carry most of the goalscoring burden in any team, why then is Juventus signing a striker? This is because the Portuguese captain is known to be more efficient when playing with a second striker. Ronaldo often needs a hardworking striker to open up the space for him to run into with blistering pace and predatory finishes his tradecraft. This is why Ronaldo is looking forward to playing with Jorge, who has himself built a reputation as a selfless and hardworking striker. We will look at 3 other strikers who have been the perfect foil for Ronaldo.

Karim Benzema: French forward Karim Benzema is unarguably Ronaldo's best partner ever. The pair played for 9 years together at the Santiago Bernabeu before Ronaldo moved to Juventus. Benzema provided 47 assists to Ronaldo but this doesn't tell the whole story. The guile and subterfuge deployed by Benzema opened up so many chances for the Portuguese' final 450 goals tally for Madrid.

Wayne Rooney: The Portuguese and the Englishman combined to deadly effect at Old Trafford for 5 seasons. Rooney joined United in 2004 after Ronaldo had spent just one year in the Sir Alex Ferguson-led side. In the 2006-07 season, both players shone brightly as they scored 23 goals each, won the English Premier League and got to the final of the FA Cup and the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.

Mario Mandzukic: The Croatian striker formed a symbiotic partnership with Ronaldo in the latter's first season at Juventus. Whilst he made the runs to open up spaces for Ronaldo, the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner also helped in giving the legendary striker his last hurray at the club. Since Mandzukic left, Juventus have been unable to find the perfect partner for Ronaldo. They will hope that Kaio Jorge is the perfect player to get the best from a player who is probably playing his last season with the Italian giants.
