Chelsea and Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. A match that Chelsea would have themselves to blame for their sheer wastefulness and lack of cutting edge on an afternoon where they were the dominant team.

Cristiano Ronaldo started the match on the bench in what was a very big call for caretaker manager Michael Carrick. The decision didn't have much of a damning effect as United were the first to draw some blood through Jadon Sancho after a gift from Jorginho before the same player redeemed himself from the penalty spot after Aaron Wan-Bissaka had fouled Thiago Silva.

Ronaldo before today's match had never scored a Premier League goal against Chelsea and starting on the bench didn't help matters. He nearly went clean on goal but his brilliant cutback was excellently read and intercepted by veteran defender Thiago Silva.

Chelsea before today's match had not won against United since 2017 and when all looked set to finally break that, they were scrapping for a draw. Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Chelsea continued their wait for a desired outcome against each other.
