Chivas goes all out for Julián Araujo transfer, to “steal” him from MLS 2022

Club Deportivo Guadalajara will try to take Mexican right back from LA Galaxy, will the Galaxians allow it?

In 2021 alone, the Mexican international ranked 38th among the league's fastest players.

According to Mexican media, Chivas is going all out for the transfer of Julián Araujo, to "steal" him from MLS 2022, which would leave the LA Galaxy without a great player.

And although it would seem that the Rebaño Sagrado does not need him at all after the great start of the tournament they had, there is no doubt that the current right-back would give the club even more depth in attack

Araujo, who surprised the Major League Soccer public last December by playing for the Mexican national soccer team, is already on the radar of the Liga MX 2022 club.

Although none of the parties involved have commented on the matter, it is known that Chivas are still in a position to make one more signing to complete their reinforcements to win the tournament.

And in Liga MX 2022, they still have until the third round of the current championship to register transfers.

What is known about Araujo's possible departure from MLS?

Sources close to the Mexican newspaper El Informador assured that the team of Verde Valle has every intention of reinforcing the right side of the field, which is where Araujo plays.

According to the aforementioned media outlet, Araujo is of interest to the Guadalajara club because, at 20 years of age, he has been one of the Galaxians' most active players last season

Although Chivas used Jesús Sánchez in that position in the last game, his performance did not convince Marcelo Michel Leaño, the current coach of the team.

It has even happened that Sánchez has lost the starting right-back position to players like Isaac Brizuela or Carlos Cisneros, which shows that that position needs someone with the dominance that Araujo has shown in Major League Soccer.

How could the LA Galaxy keep this talented player?

It seems that the factor to prevent this talent from emigrating from Major League Soccer will be the economic factor, one that weighs heavily on Club Deportivo Guadalajara and that the LA Galaxy has dominated as one of the richest franchises in the tournament.

The player's contract costs 5.1 million dollars and Araujo has a contract with the Los Angeles club until 2025, so bringing him to Mexico will not be easy.

Another factor that Chivas must take into account is the player's salary, which according to Salary Sport, is 625,411.88 dollars a year, so he would easily be among the highest-paid players in Guadalajara.

Why should the LA Galaxy keep Julian Araujo?

This 2021 when Greg Vanney took control of the team formerly coached by Guillermo Barros Schelotto, things changed for Araujo.

Vanney noticed the player's qualities and decided to field him in most of his games to get the most out of him.

The Galaxy is now a more possession-oriented team and Araujo excelled in that scheme by making 1,522 passes, which ranked 22nd in all of MLS and fifth among fullbacks and wingers.

For this, the player became the fifth-best passer of the ball among all MLS fullbacks and wingers, behind only Julian Gressel, Brooks Lennon, Aaron Herrera, and Daniel Lovitz, according to an analysis by Joseph Lowery.

Another great trait that would be a shame to lose with Araujo's departure to Mexican soccer would be his speed.

In 2021 alone, the Mexican international ranked 38th among the league's fastest players, with a top sustained speed of 9.8 meters per second.

For these and other reasons, it would be a shame for Major League Soccer to be without Araujo's talent. Will the LA Galaxy be able to keep him?
