St. Louis CITY SC already has a home, and it will be Centene Stadium, a building with which the MLS expansion club reached a 15-year agreement.
MLS 2022: Who is Selmir Pidro, the first reinforcement of St. Louis CITY SC?
The team, which will be Major League Soccer's 29th-ranked club when it enters the competition in 2023, reached an agreement for a 15-year naming rights partnership with multinational healthcare company Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC).
Through this agreement, the stadium now known as Centene Stadium will open in late summer 2022, a state-of-the-art football-conditioned stadium that will have a capacity of 22,500.
The announcement was made through a press release on the club's social networks, and the reaction of the fans was celebratory as they expressed their happiness to know that their future team now has its stadium.
Some even joked that since the agreement is with a health care company, there would be blood pressure checks at the start of each match.
In the same release that reported Centene Stadium as the new home of the MLS expansion team, team president Carolyn Kindle Betz celebrated that this agreement will be to the benefit of not only the team but also the community.
"Centene is not only one of the fastest-growing companies in the country, but it is also a STLMade company that cares about St. Louis as much as we do,"
Kindle Betz also stated, "We wanted a naming rights partner that was willing to invest in the continued growth of our region, and we certainly have that with Centene."
The stadium that will be the future home of St. Louis CITY SC will be a stadium designed with the team's fans in mind and with every possible amenity for them to consider the facility their home.
Centene Stadium will feature the convenience of all seats being within 100 feet of the field and there will be a fan section of over 3,000 standing rooms.
All four sides of the stadium will be open, and the roof design pays homage to the Gateway Arch in its materiality and ability to reflect light.
Designed by internationally renowned architect Julie Snow and HOK.
