Here are the top six Colombian players currently playing in the first division of U.S. soccer.
Yimmi Chará
After several years of inconsistent performances in Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil, Chará seems to have found stability with the Portland Timbers. He has spent two seasons in MLS, scoring 13 goals in 64 games.
Eddie Segura
Segura made the jump to U.S. soccer in 2019, initially being loaned by Atlético Huila to Los Angeles FC, a team that later acquired his federative rights. He is one of the lynchpins of the defense, despite the fact that he is currently recovering from a delicate knee injury.
Yeimar Gómez
Gómez is one of the many Colombian players who emigrated to Argentina without even making his debut in local soccer, gaining experience for several years, especially at Union de Santa Fe. He has been with the Seattle Sounders for two seasons and is well established in his role.
Cristian Arango
Arango is one of the Colombians who has had the greatest impact in the United States during the last few seasons, becoming the MLS Newcomer of the Year in a matter of six months. He scored 14 goals in 17 games and is one of the great promises of Los Angeles FC.
Fredy Montero
The Colombian returned to Seattle for the 2021 season after an eight-year absence. He finished the regular season with 7 goals and 6 assists in 29 games (15 starts). He also scored 3 goals in the 2021 League Cup. Aims to be one of Seattle's referents in the attacking line.
Darwin Quintero
Quintero remains with the Texan club through TAM, having been a Designated Player for Houston in 2020 and 2021. While his role was diminished last season, he has 10 goals and 12 assists in 42 regular-season games (29 starts) for the Dynamo.
