Bastian Schweinsteiger revealed why footballers choose MLS to retire

The name of Bastian Schweinsteiger marked part of the history of Bayern München after being the protagonist of multiple titles wearing that shirt. However, when it came time to step aside, he chose Chicago Fire and Major League Soccer (MLS) as his destination.

The German was one of the most popular faces of the Illinois team in American football after arriving with a franchise player contract and the clear objective of promoting the image of the club inside and outside the country to give growth to the league. Although, it should be noted that the arrival of this high-caliber player did not cause such a stir on the North American streets, and precisely, that was one of the fundamental factors that led Schweinsteiger directly to MLS. 

"In the United States it is easier to go for a walk, I can go out to have a coffee in the street and nobody stops me. I go to the supermarket calmly, nobody asks me for photos. I am not so in the focus of the people. That is why we chose this country ", said the former footballer in 2019 to the newspaper Marca.

The truth is that after several years of growth, the American soccer league has become an attractive and competitive destination for elite players who are beginning to face the final stages of their careers that made theirs in Europe.
