Barcelona offer world cup-winning defender to Manchester United

FC Barcelona has offered French defender Samuel Umtiti to Manchester United in their quest to sign Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek. The Dutch midfielder is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford as he is not in the first-team plans of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Donny van de Beek moved to the English club for £39m at the start of the 2019-20 season from Dutch side Ajax. He has found playing time hard to come by as he is firmly behind Pogba, Fernandes, McTominay, Fred and Matic in the pecking order.

FC Barcelona coach, Ronald Koeman is said to be keen on reuniting Donny van de Beek with another former Ajax player, Frenkie de Jong who is already on the books at Barcelona.

Manchester United are thought to be ready to let van de Beek go but it is yet to be seen if they will accept Umtiti as part of the deal or if they would prefer a cash-only deal.
