Atlanta United gave a clue to the future of Josef Martínez

Last Sunday, Atlanta United played its last game of the 2022 Major League Soccer season. The team coached by Mexican Gonzalo Pineda lost 2-1 at home against New York City FC, in a game that was simply to confirm the bad season of the team where Josef Martínez plays.

The Venezuelan Martínez has a contract with Atlanta United until the end of the 2023 season, with the option to renew for one more year. The Vice President of the Club, Carlos Bocanegra, stated that there are negotiations with the striker to define his future. The striker scored nine goals in 26 games.

"I have no problems with Josef. He is a competitive person, who has been fantastic for this club for six years. We understand what he means here and for the club. I have been talking to his agent throughout the year," said Carlos Bocanegra.

After that final game of the season against NYCFC, Martínez declined to comment. The soccer player suggested to the journalists present that they speak with Bocanegra and Pineda to find out about the future of the Venezuelan striker.
