Real Salt Lake decided to move differently than other teams in MLS. First, the group chose to partner with SciSports, a technology platform that will help them find the best signings for their team. Once this is done, the team tries to complete the signing of a German player.
Manuel Schaffler, a 31-year-old German player, is the forward Real Salt Lake wants from their team. The player is currently under contract with SV Wehen Wiesbaden from 3. Bundesliga until 2021. However, the player can leave the club due to a clause stating that his contract may end in the team relegation event, which happened this year with the team.
The player has played all his life in Germany, and if his signing is finalized, it would be Manuel Schaffler's first international experience. Real Salt Lake believes in the player's potential and hopes to complete his signing in the next few days.
