After claiming it was not real soccer, Sebastian Giovinco might be returning to MLS

A couple of weeks ago, when rumors about Lorenzo Insigne’s signing with Toronto FC, Sebastian Giovinco said during an interview that MLS wasn’t real soccer: “It’s not real football, that’s something else,” advising Insigne’s about his future with Toronto.

But now, Giovinco has been linked with a new MLS franchise. Portland Timbers are set to pursue the Italian striker for the 2022 MLS Season. Giovinco has been out of activity for 5 months after his contract with Al-Hilal ended in August.

Reports suggest that Portland Timbers management already started conversations with Giovinco’s agent, but so far there’s nothing concrete, but Sebastian has stated on previous occasions that he’d like to play again in the MLS.

Giovinco’s numbers with Toronto FC

During his 4-year stint with Toronto, Giovinco won the Supporters Shield in 2017. He also won MLS MVP on his first campaign with the team. Giovinco played a total of 142 games, where he managed to score 83 goals and assist on 51 occasions.
