Gerardo “Tata” Martino was able to save his position as Mexico National Team coach after barely earning 7 out of the 9 available points in the last World Cup Qualifiers, as El Tri was able to win 2 games and tie the other one.

But not even that helped to soothe his critics, as “Tata” Martino’s system keeps raising questions, given that El Tri’s last matches are far from an optimal performance, especially after losing the first place in CONCACAF and with it, the Giant of CONCACAF title.

El Tri followers and analysts have asked multiple times why “Tata” Martino is set to stay on Mexico National Team bench, as he doesn’t even watch Liga MX matches and keeps calling the same players, but now, the reason to his whim is out: he wants money.

How much money is he asking to leave El Tri?

According to reports, Martino still has two more years of contract with Mexico National Team. He earns $2 million per year, but in order to leave El Tri before his contract expires, he’d have to receive compensations and sponsors bonuses, which will raise the debt to $6 million.
