Both Mexican players have earned their place in their teams. Edson Álvarez since last season became a key player for Erik Ten Hag, who starts him almost every game in the midfield. Meanwhile, Erick Gutiérrez had more difficulties earning a place in PSV's starting lineup, however, in the final stage of last year, the former Pachuca player convinced Roger Schmidt and started to appear in the starting lineups.

Ajax vs Utrecht

Edson Álvarez's Ajax continues to be a soccer machine, and this time the Dutch club made it a reality with a 3-0 victory over Utrecht in the Eredivisie, a match in which the Mexican played all 90 minutes as one of the key players for coach Erik Ten Hag.

The Ajax team mainly exploited the opponent's left flank to do more damage and that's how all the winning goals came in the victory, which has the club in second place in the Netherlands standings with 45 points so far. Only one point behind Erick Gutierrez's PSV.

The first goal came from a service from the left that had several touches on the edge of the area until finally Antony Matheus dos Santos connected with the ball and with the help of a deflection made it 1-0.

The second goal came from Tadic's run down the same flank that ended in a cross for Brian Brobbey, who headed the ball home to make it 2-0. Before the end of the first half, Brobbey himself again took advantage of a service from his teammate to shoot the ball to make the final score 3-0.

Álvarez's performance was quiet, but effective, constantly supporting his teammates to recover the ball. In this way, he continues to respond to his coach and looks in rhythm to play in the World Cup Qualifiers with the Mexican national team at the end of this month.

PSV vs Groningen

Erick Gutiérrez and PSV also kicked off 2022 with a victory and once again took the top spot in the Eredivisie, the Mexican started in the 1-0 win over Groningen.

PSV took the lead in the 10th minute with a goal by Mario Götze and continued to try to increase the advantage, and on the half-hour mark, Japan's Ritsu Doan came close to scoring a second, but his shot went wide.

The match ended 0-1 and PSV remained in first place after 19 games, they have 46 points and the fight for the Eredivisie title remains intense among the Mexicans.

Edson Álvarez and Edson Gutiérrez are looking for their spot in the Mexican national team for the World Cup qualifiers which will be played at the end of January.
