Diego Cocca made his first mistake with the Mexican National Team prior to his first game against Suriname, a duel in the Nations League, a tournament in which he is obliged to win if he wants to keep his job at ´El Tri´.

Cocca summoned 34 players to face the Nations League duels against Suriname and Jamaica, the coach decided to put together two groups, he made some players travel and others stay in Mexico to train.

The journalist Rubén Rodríguez pointed out that this was Diego Cocca's first big mistake with the Mexican National Team, the previous coaches took all the players in their first games, the idea was to meet the players and create a good working environment.

Rodríguez said that the message that Diego Cocca gave to the players who faced Suriname is that they are not the important ones for his team, those who stayed in Mexico are the players who really have the confidence of the Argentine coach.

Diego Cocca's contract

Diego Cocca has a contract with the Mexican National Team at the end of the 2026 World Cup, but if the Argentine does not win the Nations League and the Gold Cup this year, he could be fired as coach of the Mexico.
